It's a full-day assessment, where specialist therapists work together to build a complete picture of your child's strengths, challenges and goals. It's the start of your child's personalised Brainwave ...journey.

On your assessment day, you'll spend time with our therapy team, who will get to know your child, understand their strengths and challenges, and identify practical ways to help them progress.

You'll receive:
✔ A full-day multiprofessional assessment
✔ Specialist therapists working together to understand your child's needs
✔ A bespoke home therapy programme
✔ A detailed written report with practical recommendations
✔ Ongoing support from our Family Support Team

Most importantly, you'll leave with a clear plan designed to help your child reach their potential.

Families with a gross household income below £70,000 now only pay the £100 assessment deposit.

🚴‍♂️ Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Belfast Loop Cycle Ride!🎉

What an incredible achievement! This year’s Belfast Loop was undoubtedly our toughest yet, with riders taking on an incredible 14,000+ feet of climbing. It was a true test of endurance, ...determination and teamwork, but the amazing team spirit and positive attitude shown by everyone saw the challenge through to the finish.

Your child’s Brainwave Assessment could now cost just £100. 🤩

We’re delighted to announce that, thanks to a reallocation of charitable funding, families with a gross household income below £70,000 now only pay the £100 assessment deposit. No ...additional assessment contribution is required.*

That’s a reduction of £450 on an Initial Assessment and £350 on a Reassessment. 👏😃

At Brainwave, we never want finances to prevent a child from accessing the specialist support they need. This change means even more families can begin their Brainwave journey and receive a bespoke therapy programme designed around their child’s individual needs.

Ups and Downs Southwest is a dedicated charity supporting children and young people with Down Syndrome, from birth through to 25 years, as well as their families and carers. Covering Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, and Devon, they provide a wide range of inclusive activities, tailored support, and opportunities that empower individuals to thrive and reach their full potential.

With two offices based in Bristol and Bridgwater (Somerset), their experienced team includes family support workers, school liaison workers, a Post-16 Navigator in Bristol, and youth workers based in Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, and Sherborne. 

Together, they offer practical guidance, emotional support, and meaningful connections, championing inclusion, celebrating achievements, and ensuring that every family feels supported, valued, and never alone on their journey.
