Our Fees

What You'll Pay (UK & Ireland)

We know that accessing specialist therapy can be a significant financial commitment. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and a recent reallocation of charitable funding, we are pleased to make our services more accessible than ever.

Infographic of what the fees will be for an assessment

If your gross household income is below £70,000, you will only pay a £100 assessment deposit. No additional assessment contribution is required. This support is available to UK families and remains subject to funding availability.

If your gross household income is £70,000 or above the initial assessment will cost £550 and reassessment £450. A £100 deposit will be taken when you book and will be taken off the fee. You can see a full list of our fees below.

When funds allow, we also offer support towards the travel costs between your home and your child’s assessment. This is only available to those receiving TAF support and is up to a maximum of £160.

We understand that these costs may be a barrier to you attending with your child. If so, please see our Further Support section below or contact us at bookings@brainwave.org.uk and we will be able to guide you on other sources of funding.

Deposit

Every assessment is secured with a £100 deposit.

This helps us:

  • reserve therapist time
  • prepare your child’s personalised assessment
  • reduce appointments lost through late cancellations
  • offer cancelled appointments to other families

If required, we can offer a payment plan for the deposit (see ‘Payment Plans’ for further details).

The deposit is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation – view our Cancellation Policy here.

Our Therapy Access Fund exists to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent children from accessing Brainwave.

Thanks to recent charitable funding, families with a gross household income below £70,000 now only pay the £100 assessment deposit.

Support is subject to available charitable funding and may change in the future.

However, once your assessment has been booked, your deposit has been paid and your place has been confirmed, the agreed level of support for that assessment is guaranteed and will not be changed, even if funding arrangements change afterwards.

We understand that spreading payments can make accessing our services easier.

For families with a gross household income below £70,000, payment plans are available for the £100 assessment deposit. A minimum of 50% of the deposit (£50) must be paid before the assessment date, with the remaining balance paid in line with the agreed payment plan.

For families with a gross household income of £70,000 or above, payment plans are also available for the assessment contribution. Contributions can be spread over an agreed period by standing order.

If you would like to discuss a payment plan, please contact our Bookings team (bookings@brainwave.org.uk), who will be happy to help you find an option that works for your family.

Awards for travel costs between your home and our National Therapy Assessment Centre in Somerset, or Outreach Hubs (up to a maximum of £160 – only available to those receiving TAF support).

You will need to claim within two weeks of your visit, and upload receipts (if claiming for public transport). Please ask the team for more details, or complete the form via the link below: Family Travel Expenses Fund

If you need to change your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.

  • 8 weeks or more notice – your deposit can be transferred.
  • Less than 8 weeks’ notice – a £50 administration fee applies.
  • If you reschedule within 8 weeks, a further £50 deposit is required.
  • If you do not rearrange your appointment, the £100 deposit (and any contribution) is forfeited.

We are happy to support families from outside of the UK, but you will be charged at a non-subsidised rate:

It costs Brainwave around £4,000 a year to deliver a therapy programme for just one child. Thanks to the hard work of our fundraising and retail teams, we can subsidise most of these costs so that families can access the support they need.

In 2026, we must raise £2.2 million to continue providing our life-changing services, and we receive no government funding to help meet this amount.

As a charity, our ability to provide this level of support depends on future fundraising and grant funding.

While we are delighted to introduce this change, it may need to be reviewed if funding levels change.

If this support makes a difference to your family, we’d love to hear from you. Sharing your experience helps us demonstrate the impact of our work when applying for future funding, helping even more children benefit from Brainwave.

Our Charity Partner, Tree of Hope, may be able to provide further support.

Turn2Us have a grant searching tool on their website here

You may also be eligible for financial support through a grant from Just4Children.
