A brain tumour is the abnormal growth of cells in the brain. There are many different types of brain tumour and they are categorised based on their locations, the type of cells involved and how quickly they grow.
If a tumour puts pressure on areas of the brain it can affect how the body functions. The tumour or its treatment or removal can lead to long term physical, speech and cognitive difficulties.
Although they may need support from other members of the team often those children with or recovering from brain tumours will see one of our Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists to assess and provide support.
At Brainwave we see children with a range of conditions; including those with or following treatment for Brain Tumours. Our experienced multidisciplinary therapy team will take the time to assess your child’s needs before establishing shared goals. We will then use our knowledge of neuroplasticity to develop and teach you a home-based programme that you can deliver on a regular basis with our ongoing support.
