Do you want:

  • more direct impact on the lives of children with disabilities and additional needs?
  • to feel appreciated, valued and the love for the job you had when you first qualified to return?
  • more time to spend with each child/family you work with?
  • protected time for CPD and regular clinical supervision with SLT colleagues on site, as well as flexibility to occasionally work from home?
  • your own desk, onsite parking and free tea, coffee, and fruit?

Then take a step towards Brainwave…

We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience of using a range of interventions and strategies to support the complex communication needs of children with learning disabilities and profound and multiple learning disabilities.

Families attend for an assessment and during that time, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and get to know them and their children well, allowing you to find out what matters to them. You will have an opportunity to talk with parents, assess and build a rapport with a child, which our team find both enjoyable and rewarding. Having the time to talk through the programme of activities with families is invaluable, as you can not only demonstrate and teach these but discuss the rationale behind why you have included them in the programme.  By being able to do this, our therapists have job satisfaction, and they go home each day knowing they’ve made a difference!  We also provide regular clinical supervision and protected time for CPD.

It is an exciting time to be joining us, as we further develop our Outreach Hubs, so that we can reach more children and families across the UK providing life-changing therapies for disabled children and their families. This could be anything from a child walking, or feeding themselves, to counting or forming sentences.

Our multi-disciplinary therapy team predominantly work with children from birth to 12 years who have a range of conditions and diagnoses.

This is what Claire; a Speech and Language Therapist with Brainwave says:

‘I had fallen out of love with speech and language therapy and was on the verge of leaving the profession. Brainwave has given me back my passion for SLT and I am so pleased I applied for the post.

I truly love working here, what we do here is brilliant and I feel that I really make a difference to the lives of children and their families. Moving from the public sector to a charity has given me and my family a better quality of life. No longer do I have to drive miles each day, carry assessments around and park away from my workplace. I have my own desk where I can leave personal things like mugs on! My mug has survived 3 years now – unheard of in shared kitchens! For me, these things make such a big difference to my overall well-being, which significantly increases my enjoyment of work and the outcomes I achieve.’
