Children’s charity Brainwave, based in Bridgwater, Somerset is celebrating after being awarded £303,093 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, following their successful application.

This funding will enable Brainwave to increase access to specialist therapy services across England for existing and new families. Funding will support children with disabilities and additional needs helping them to achieve their milestones, gain greater independence, and unlock their potential. Through the work of their qualified therapists and specialist staff delivering support from their Centre in Somerset, outreach hubs, home visits and online, families will be positively impacted and also increase their community and peer support connections.
This new National Lottery funding will enable Brainwave to expand their team delivering their bespoke therapy programmes across England, supporting more children with disabilities to help improve their communication, mobility, and emotional resilience. The funding will increase the charity’s reach, to provide vital life-changing therapies to new families. This will commence in February 2023, with a new therapist joining the team and this three-year funding will increase their sustainability providing a secure platform to achieve their growth plans and enable them to continue delivering their vital services long into the future.
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.
Keith Sinclair, CEO of Brainwave said, ‘This is fantastic news, I would like to thank our amazing team for all their hard work in putting this funding application together, National Lottery Players and The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting our work, with this incredible amount. This will ensure that we are able to achieve life changing outcomes for even more children and families over the next three years, as we continue to adapt our service delivery and embed ourselves in local communities, across England. This will make a big difference to people’s lives. Thank you for walking alongside us on our journey!’
Brainwave is headquartered in Somerset and takes a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting children with a combination of physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, sensory integration and learning development.
During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
